The interconnection of computing devices embedded in everyday objects, enabling them to send and receive data via the internet. It can include home appliances, robots, laptops, smart phones and many other devices.


For example, with the right technology it is now possible to control your home heating and lighting from an app on your phone. In banking and finance, as an example, when a customer swipes their card in a shop, by verifying the account holder's location, the bank can confidently approve or decline the transaction. Internet connected devices are used in all areas: consumer, commercial, industrial and infrastructure spaces.
